Now would you want to cut very very close to the decal or leave some of the original fabric around it?

To attach it to my shirt, I am now going to put it on some white fabric, since my shirts white and sew it on there and also use iron on fusable webbing.

if some of you have done this before and have a better way of taking pre existing decals and stuff off baby clothing an putting it on a bigger shirt, so you can wear it please let me know.

Yes I have cross posted to other crafts to get a wider arena of replies, in case nobody replies in one group, or someone in another group has done or heard of what I am doing, and the other groups have not.

i have a delicate little boy with a smile like a forest, dark and wild.
the dimple in his left cheek only shows when he's grimacing, his eyelashes are stark like twigs. he is most beautiful when sleeping fitfully or pressing his tiny fingers into my clavicle or screaming loud enough to break the sky--

i open my eyes and he is gone.

i have nothing but empty hands and a tv filled with static.
i have nothing but three years of college under my belt and a fervent desire to be anywhere but here.
i have nothing but a boyfriend who kisses my eyelids but doesn't understand.
i have nothing but three antique keys and a broken umbrella.

i have nothing financially prepared for a baby.
i have nothing physically prepared for a baby.
i have nothing but dreams of a smile like a forest and tiny fingers.

i have nothing.

9:41 AM 11/12/09 · I originally thought I'd have to track down a link to the article but it wasn't that big a deal as it was covered in the following video...

...but if you hadn't heard, sometime last week on Sesame Street Oscar the Grouch said something about POX News, which is the muppet version of FOX News, that has made the Republican Party declare that show to be subversive. They actually made an attempt, might still be trying, to have it sanctioned and/or banned.

9:58 AM 11/12/09 · One of the lessons I learned in my early teens was that all of the nursery rhymes I heard as a kid, most notably those of the Brothers Grimm, both didn't have the happy endings I had previously learned and were much darker than what I'd been presented with...

...and I think probably more than just about anyone else, Tim Burton's warped little brainpan is just about perfect for portraying these things much more accurately than most.

9:40 PM 11/11/09 · Over the weekend Mom was getting eyestrain skimming sites for a good thing to buy her grandchild, my niece, Peanut. I didn't have any real suggestions, my shopping technique is based less on looking and just letting gifts sneak up on me...

...which may sound ridiculous but it's served me well over the years.

So, the other day I pop onto the TV Guide Channel and spotted this commercial that made me want to call her about it. We had a long chat about it, details of what it was and all that, after I had her copy down the website for it.

She kept hearing it singular and I insisted she get it right because the name was suggestive enough I was worried if she got it wrong that it might lead to a porn site. We both laughed at that.
12th-Nov-2009 02:04 pm - Fort Collins Cat Rescue Journal #29:
I spent two hours at the rescue yesterday. It was a mad house! We had quite a few adoptions. There were 9 new kittens that I needed to get photos of. Three got adopted as I walked in the door, but what's amazing is the siamese boy was still there! Haha, the lady that took two said that she already had a siamese, so she wanted something different! ;D

The other kitten from that litter that got adopted went with one of our senior kitties! :D Mackenzie found a home! She hates other cats...but she tolerates them well enough (similar to my roommate's cat, Jenny), and the family has another young cat for the kitten to be a companion to. They also got the enormous cat tree that went with one of our featured cats this month! This month we're featuring our seniors, and now Boogaloo (12 years old) is the only one left. Someone needs to give the old man a few good years in a nice warm home!

I recall yesterday mentioning that all the cats I write about are mixed breeds, but I have to admit every now and then we do get purebreds! One of our volunteers drove down to Denver the other day to pick up two 1.5 year old Scottish Folds! I have my fingers crossed that she'll bring them into the shelter so I can get pics before they're snatched up! One is calico and one is grey tabby. :) I'll include a couple photos their foster mom took of them (despite the flash being on and them having glowing eyes! lol) at the bottom of my post.

For now, pictures!

Our resident snugglies. :D Someone needs to adopt Wally and Yoda together, simply for cuteness like this!

A few weeks ago, I posted asking for help finding or extrapolating a pattern for a hat I'd seen in a catalog. I wound up going with the Gilligan Bucket Hat, and I thought I should make a post showing the result:

12th-Nov-2009 01:14 pm - Update on New Kitty
In case you did not catch my last post, I got an adorable new kitty on Sunday. My new kitty Syfte (pronounced "sift") adjusted to the move really well. She immediately acted right at home. Didn't hide for awhile or anything. My two older cats hiss at her and sometimes swat at her, but it doesn't bother her in the least! My orange cat is coming around, and now sometimes plays with her, but my black cat is still acting hostile, although I'm sure he'll come around in a week or two, if not sooner. Don't worry, kitty is not in any danger. She is so well-behaved, though. She always uses her litter box, she never purposely runs or hides from me (she sometimes catnaps under the couch, but if I peek down there and call to her, she comes right to me), etc. The only bad behavior she's exhibited at all is that she has clawed my couch a few times, but I'm not too concerned about that. I have some cat scratching toys around that she hasn't seemed to warm up to yet, but my couch is nothing special or expensive anyway. Anyway, I just needed to share that because my two older cats were so bad when they were kittens! I'm in shock at how good she is! She's adorable, too. She has beautiful markings (pictures in previous post, and I'm sure I'll post more in the future). She loves the crinkly tunnel toy we have and loves to chase jingly balls. Sometimes she follows me everywhere! And she has a really funny mew. I can't even describe it. Anywho, that's my kitty rant.

XOXO

12th-Nov-2009 12:19 pm - X-mas Gifts for Babies?
My extended family has exploded with children over the last few years and now I have 15 children under the age of six that I'm shopping for. Because I'm hoping to eat during the month of December, I'm trying for handmade gifts this year.

OH YEAH, AND I CAN'T SEW. AT ALL.

Does anyone have any suggestions for non-sewn handmade gifts for young children?

I started by making some rhyming storybooks about some of the older ones. Then I wrote some lullabies for the youngest ones. It's the ones in the middle that are giving me the most problem (the 18 month/2 yr olds), since they're not quite ready for books, but a little too big for lullabies.

I was thinking of making some classic wooden blocks with personalized images woodburned on the sides but I'm not sure if wooden blocks will do more damage than good to small children.

Any help would be great! Thanks so much!

My mom is very interested in Norwegian knitting and I would like to purchase a book of patterns for her. Since I know nothing on it really, other than what Amazon and google tell me, I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions on a good book for her. She just wants to do scarves, mittens, sweaters, etc. She's been knitting for longer than i've been alive, so skill isn't an issue.

And would Norwegian and Fair Isle knitting be considered the same or similar? What about Scandinavian?

12th-Nov-2009 09:31 am - Day 1 exploring
So today i took Ally outside to explore the yard. I carried her to the back and set her down. We have this thing out back where its like a box and an old sofa is pushed up against it and it has gaps from behind the couch. She went in there and hid in the back, but when i called her she came and neatly sat on a flat rock like she was a little princess. Then of course the dog cameand she darted back in. So i went and put Sadie (the dog) back inside then went to check on Ally. I called her and she came out again and she was messing with some dead grass, chewing on it. I was sort of concerned, but i read that its okay for cats to chew on grass if its only the normal type and nothing is sprayed on it. and since my sis and her husband never tend to their yard (theres hardly any grass left) i knew it was okay. Well i picked her up and set her on the back porch and she glanced up at me and meowed then i petted her and she started purring. she was so adorable. and when i picked her up she was so nice, usually she wants leaped down, but i used my sweet voice and she relaxed and she started purring again.

Now she's inside and sleeping. i guess her little exploring exhausted her, because when i called her to put her to bed she didn't even complain. Which she usually comlains or runs away. she's so adorable! i'll post pics later.

i have a question though. she recently turned 4 months and since i'm letting her outside i'm worried about her getting pregnant. My sister's old cat Nia got pregnant and i'm worried that Ally will too. Anyways, my question is this: How old is it that cats can get neutered? 4 or 6 months? Ally only weighs 2-3 pounds right now, maybe at most.

13th-Nov-2009 12:48 am - Kitty aggression
Hi all,

I posted a while back about my cat, Cowboy, inappropriately eliminating outside of the litter box. Sadly, Cowboy peacefully passed away at home shortly after his diagnosis with Feline Leukemia.

Several weeks after Cowboy's death, we adopted a kitten (FeLV negative, hooray!) who we named Sophie. Sophie has adjusted well to our two large dogs and one of our two cats. However, our cat Biscuit has been showing some aggression towards her.

Biscuit, who is somewhere between 5 and 6 years old, was aggressive with Cowboy as well, which we assumed had something to do with him being an intact male (all of our pets, save one dog, are spayed females). He died before we could have him neutered, so we never really knew for sure what set Biscuit off.

At around 14 weeks, Sophie is still too young to be spayed, but I'd also think that at that age, she wouldn't be a real threat to the hierarchy, either.

I may be waaaay off base here, but I'm still fairly new to cat ownership so I'm looking for help!

When Biscuit enters a room, poor Sophie usually curls up in a corner and tries to make herself inconspicuous. Biscuit has been pulling the ol' hit-and-run: first stalking Sophie, then running to her and getting a few swipes in before running away again. Sophie never defends herself.

We're not sure how to handle this. Is it something that will go away on its own? Or do we need to implement some kind of behavior modification? Any advice is welcomed!

11th-Nov-2009 11:14 pm - A little about her...
So yesterday we got Ally a collar. I found out later that it was Sadie's (my sisters dog) old puppy collar. But it fit alright. I tightened it, but made sure it was loose enough and comfortable for her. Well today i noticed it was actually too big. Because she chews on the end of it to get it off (its her first time wearing a collar). I found she had tried to get it off with her foot and got one of her front legs in so i fixed it. Then later the fireplace was open (its snowing here) and Ally looked as if she wanted to jump in. I swear she was crouching. When i went to pick her up i noticed the collar problem. The collar was around her neck and one of her legs again. SO i fixed it again and then took her to the comp room. Now she's sleeping. Sorry just thought i'd just tell it, no significance to the story.

She'll be 5 months next month and she's already so big. She's the most adorable thing. She chases her tail and she likes to steal socks then throw them in the air and bat at them. She's a creamy brown and white with medium length fur and grayish green eyes. I completely adore her and can't wait to get her a companion. I'm thinking of getting another kitten for her to play with so she won't be bored when i get back to school. A younger cat, because younger kittens have more energy and could probably keep up with Ally's crazy antics.

I'm starting to let Ally outside. Today i let her out on the back porch because when i call her she comes back. But after i shut the door and sat in the living room i heard scratching on the door and meowing. Well i open the door and ohmygosh! its sprinkling barely and i don't see Ally. I look and then see her up near the top of the door, climbing it. I carry her inside and let her snuggle up to me. Obviously she prefers warmth to the cold. (sorry ally *hugs*) I guess from now on i only let her out in the mornings.

sorry i'm bored so i'm rambling.
